Often referred to as liquid gold, Platelet-Rich Plasma or PRP, is the portion of our blood containing platelets and growth factors. These eight growth factors target collagen, and promote cell growth in skin and hair. PRP has been used in various areas of the body to promote healing, as well as for skin improvements and hair loss, collagen production, and new cell generation.
What is the procedure?
The procedure takes approximately 20 minutes. A small amount of blood is drawn from the arm (approximately 9ml, less than 2 teaspoons), cells are separated to harvest the PRP portion, combined with calcium creating PRFM, in a sterile manner and injected.
PRP targets collagen, skin, and hair, promoting cell growth. PRP is safe and effective, utilizing the body’s own restorative tools enhancing the liquid gold and inserting in areas of need.
Results can be seen 4-6 weeks after the first treatment, optimally three treatments for hair growth 6 weeks apart. Typically, patients will experience a 19.7% increase in hair density in the treated area(s) during the initial 3 months.* After treatment is complete, they can expect to see a continued increase in the density of the hair in treated areas- approximately 38% on average.* The Selphyl/PRFM injections stimulate healthy cell regrowth that will support lasting regrowth beyond the first year.
Is it safe?
PRP is safe and effective, utilizing the body’s own restorative tools enhancing the liquid gold and inserting in areas of need.
Can I return to regular activities?
For hair growth, no pressure on treatment area the first seven days will help to maintain the high concentration of PRP in the treated area. All other activities can be resumed.
How Long does it last?
PRP and PRFM have long lasting results weeks to months after initial injection.
Is it painful?
Numbing cream is applied to injection area 20 minutes prior to procedure for comfort. Procedure is well tolerated, with mild discomfort without numbing agent. Clients report minimal to no pain on injection. One may feel the pinch of the initial injection, but the medication is painless on injection.
